Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Persian Business Club collects, why, who it is shared with, and how to access or correct it.

Draft for legal review. This policy is written against the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and is complete enough to publish, but Can-Do Events Pty Ltd should have it reviewed and confirm the retention periods and any overseas disclosure before launch.

Who is responsible for your information

Persian Business Club is operated by Can-Do Events Pty Ltd of Castle Hill, NSW 2154, Australia. Can-Do Events Pty Ltd is the entity responsible for personal information collected through this website and through club membership and events.

What is collected

  • Membership applications: name, email address, phone number, business name, industry, and anything you write in the free-text field.
  • Enquiries: name, email address, topic and message.
  • Newsletter: email address.
  • Event attendance: name and contact details of members and invited guests, for capacity and follow-up.
  • Website analytics: aggregate, non-identifying usage data. The site sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

You do not have to identify yourself to browse this website. Identifying information is only collected when you choose to submit a form.

Why it is collected

Personal information is collected to assess and administer membership applications, run and staff events, send club and event communications you have asked for, respond to enquiries, and operate the referral and mentorship programs between members.

Who it is shared with

Personal information is not sold, and is not disclosed for marketing by third parties. It is shared only with: service providers who host the website, store form submissions and send email on the club’s behalf, bound to use it only for those purposes; other members, where you have asked to be introduced or matched through the referral or mentorship programs; and anyone the club is required to disclose to by Australian law.

Where it is stored

Form submissions are stored on infrastructure operated by the club’s hosting provider. Where a service provider stores or processes data outside Australia, the club takes reasonable steps to ensure the provider handles it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

How long it is kept

Membership records are kept while you are a member and for a period afterwards for administrative and legal purposes. Unsuccessful applications and general enquiries are kept only as long as needed to deal with them. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.

Accessing, correcting or deleting your information

You can ask for a copy of the personal information the club holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted where the club is not required to keep it. Email admin@persianbusinessclub.com.au or call +61 417 112 112. The club will respond within a reasonable period and will not charge you for making a request.

Unsubscribing

Every club email carries an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe by emailing admin@persianbusinessclub.com.au.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and form submissions are transmitted encrypted. Access to stored submissions is limited to the people at Can-Do Events Pty Ltd who administer membership and events.

Complaints

If you believe your privacy has been mishandled, email admin@persianbusinessclub.com.au with the details. If you are not satisfied with the response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
